The Royal Foundation visits Maggie’s to see leading early years practice in action
We were delighted to welcome Christian Guy, Executive Director at The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, to Maggie’s recently.
The Centre for Early Childhood, part of The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, was established by The Princess of Wales to raise awareness of the critical importance of a child’s earliest years. Christian came to see what leading early years provision looks like in practice and to learn more about our values-led curriculum.
Our founder Margaret Mason OBE, Centre Director Laura Wildin and Director Cathy Griffin gave Christian a tour of the nursery, spending time with children and staff across the setting, including our 2.5 acres of woodland, gardens and animal areas. He then sat down with our team to discuss best practice and the issues facing the early years sector.
The conversation also covered our work in the local community, where we support families with free parent and child classes held in our Community Rooms.
Christian said: “I cannot thank the team enough for such a wonderfully warm, open and fascinating visit to Maggie’s. I was blown away not just by the environment and facilities, but by the staff and the loving culture so present in all they do.
“To spend so much time with so many babies and toddlers and not hear a single cry was particularly remarkable. We look forward to strengthening our relationship as we continue to prioritise early childhood together.”
