Supporting families far beyond the nursery day!
At Maggie’s, supporting families goes far beyond the nursery day. Through the Margaret Mason Trust and our valued partners, we work alongside local organisations that provide practical help, welcoming activities and essential services for families within our community.
Below you can find details of the support available and how to get in touch with each organisation.
TOGS Children’s Clothes Bank
Practical support for families who need it most
TOGS Children’s Clothes Bank has supported disadvantaged children and families across Derby since 2012.
The organisation provides good-quality children’s clothing for ages 0 to 14, along with essential baby equipment such as prams, strollers, Moses baskets, cots, baths, sterilisers, bottles and stairgates. Toys and children’s books may also be available.
TOGS supports more than 700 families every year and is a member of the Baby Bank Alliance. Referrals can be made by professionals working with families. Families receiving benefits or living on a low income may also refer themselves directly.

Donations
TOGS welcomes regular donations of clean children’s clothing for ages 0 to 14, baby equipment, toys and books.

Ready, Steady, Go Parent and Toddler Group
Supporting children through play, learning and early development
Ready, Steady, Go Parent and Toddler Group supports families and early childhood development through friendly, play-based educational sessions.
The group also works alongside childcare providers, family services and charities to support children’s health, education and wellbeing.
Its belief is simple: early intervention helps close gaps and gives every child the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The sessions help parents and carers build the knowledge, tools and confidence to support their child through important developmental milestones and prepare them for a successful transition into formal education.

A welcoming space for families
The sessions offer families the chance to enjoy quality time together, meet new people and receive support and advice from other parents and carers.
Everyone is welcome, with refreshments available during the sessions.

Family Support Derbyshire
We’re Family Support Derbyshire and we help families through life’s challenges. We work across Derby City, Amber Valley and South Derbyshire, offering both emotional and practical support to parents with babies and young children up to the age of 5.
We understand the difficulties that parents face and we know that sometimes it feels lonely and overwhelming. With our support, parents can overcome challenges, build confidence and find the joy in raising their children. We help children access learning opportunities, chance to socialise and a safe, positive environment so that they can thrive.
Our volunteers and support workers visit families in their own homes and also help them to access support in the community and, because we know that all families are different, the support we offer is unique to every family. We know that no family should face tough times alone, so we’re here to be by their side
Emergency Care for Families
Helping families through difficult circumstances
Maggie’s may be able to provide emergency childcare and practical support for families experiencing exceptional circumstances, including bereavement, serious illness or another family crisis.
We understand that difficult situations can arise suddenly. Our team at Maggie’s will listen carefully, discuss the family’s individual needs and explain what support may be available.
How to ask for help
Please contact the Maggie’s team directly, or complete our emergency care application form, and provide some brief information about your circumstances. All enquiries will be handled sensitively and confidentially.
Support is considered individually and will depend on availability and the needs of the child and family.
